The Midnight Sun Swim Team (MSST) in Fairbanks, Alaska is seeking an enthusiastic head coach to lead and expand a competitive swim program for an established year round team which has achieved its Level 3 in the USA Swimming Club Recognition Program. Immediate start date. MSST is an Alaska Swim team with USA Swimming membership. Current membership averages 70 - 90 swimmers throughout the year with incredible growth potential under a coach working actively to increase team membership in this growing active community. The coaching staff is fully supported by a very dedicated volunteer parent board.  Candidates must be USA Swim certified coach and in good standing, level 2 or 3 American Swim Coach Association (ASCA) certified, skilled in teaching proper stroke technique, demonstrate proficiency in the areas of recruitment and retention of swimmers, administrative responsibilities, and have the ability to motivate and work effectively with swimmers of all ages, coaching staff, and parents. The head coach position is a part time year-round position. Pay is based on experience and incentive options are available.  Fairbanks, Alaska is located in the Interior of Alaska.  It is about 380 miles north or Anchorage.  MSST Serves a population of about 87,000 with two other swim teams in the area.  Fairbanks is host to many different cultures, unique shopping and dining as well as sporting activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking camping, snowboarding, and skiing.  Fairbanks also has spectacular viewing of the Northern Lights and larger than life ice sculptures.  Winter Brings consistent snow conditions from November to March.  Winter temperatures average 8 degrees F to -19 degrees F, summer temperatures rise into the 70s and 80s. A Position Evaluation form is available for this position.  ASCA coach members may request a copy from gedson@swimmingcoach.org.  The Position Evaluation is designed for parent owned clubs and is not suited to a YMCA environment and consequently will score lower.  Therefore we do not require the PE for YMCA position announcement, however, there is good information here for the interested coach.

The YMCA of the Triangle Area (YOTA) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Competitive Swimming/Head Coach with an anticipated start date of August 17, 2009.  YOTA is a non-profit program operated through the YMCA of the Triangle Area in beautiful Raleigh, NC, which is located just hours from both the beach and the mountains and in the heart of the Research Triangle Park surrounded by Duke, UNC and NC State University. YOTA is currently a USA Swimming Bronze Medal club and has achieved Level 3 status in USA Swimming’s Club Recognition Program.  The program consists of approximately 350 athletes ages 6-18 and a coaching staff of 6 full-time coaches and 5 part-time coaches.  YOTA is consistently ranked in the top 35 clubs in the U.S. in the Virtual Club Championship rankings, in the top 5 in North Carolina Swimming at both the senior and age group levels, and has placed in the top 3 combined at YMCA Nationals every year since 2006.  In 2009 YOTA had both athlete and coach representation at the National Select Camp and currently has 7 U.S. Junior National qualifiers, 2 U.S. Open qualifiers, and 1 Olympic Trials qualifier.  YOTA is a multi-site program that trains out of five major YMCA facilities during the short-course season and three 50-meter facilities during the long-course season. Qualified candidates must:  1) Be a member in good standing with USA Swimming;  2) Have a valid USA Swimming background check and be current on all safety certifications (CPR, First Aid and Coaches Safety Training or Lifeguard certified);  3) Be ASCA Level 4 certified or higher; 4) Have a minimum of five years coaching experience in a leadership role at the club and/or collegiate level; 5) Have experience with budget management and development; 6) Possess strong verbal and written communication skills; 7) Have a Bachelor’s degree; 8) Possess a knowledge of Hy-Tek Team and Meet Manager software packages.  Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. Head Satellite Coach

The Cincinnati Marlins are searching for a high quality age-group coach to lead one of its three satellite locations.  The Cincinnati Marlins is a team of over 400 athletes and has been one of the Mid-West’s premier teams for close to fifty years.   The satellite program currently consists of approximately sixty swimmers practicing in three age-groups and a senior training group.   This satellite is located in one of the largest untapped areas of Cincinnati.  The Marlins are looking for a dynamic personality to promote program growth in this area.  In addition, a program of this size requires a multitude of administrative duties as well as the ability to work in a team environment.  The ideal candidate will be a professional coach with proven swimming results and an established administrative back ground.  Candidates must be able to coach within a pre-established training progression for athletes.  Duties will include, but are not limited to; on deck coaching of primary groups, overseeing 4 part-time coaches and their training groups, providing all administrative materials to a central billing and registration office, working with local schools to maintain pool time, attend all assigned meet sessions, and coaches meetings.  A college degree is required.  This is a full-time position with benefits demanding 40 hours per week.  Compensation will be commensurate with coaching and administrative ability with a strong incentive program for satellite growth and performance.  Position will be filled by August 20, 2009.  Applications will be accepted until position is filled.  Candidates should send resume, cover letter, and references to Head Coach, Chris Wolford at cwolford@cincy-marlins.com

Part-Time Head Coach

Indian Wells Valley Swim Team of Ridgecrest, California is seeking a part-time Head Coach with potential to grow to full time position with significant growth of the team. IWV is a growing club with 30-50 year-round swimmers. IWV is a USA Swimming club in central California approximately 100 miles east of Bakersfield. Ridgecrest has a population of 25,000 and growing and is the home of Cerro Coso Community College. The candidate must be a current USA Swimming coach member-ASCA Level 2 or higher is preferred. Candidates must possess high-level communication and public relations skills and should be able to use Hy-Tek Team Manager software. The coach will have authority to develop the swim program, train assistant coaches into his or her system, and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the team. The Head Coach will have the opportunity to design the program and to coach swimmers through every level of the club, from novice to elite. Indian Wells Valley Swim Team is run by a parent board, of which the Head Coach is a voting member. Salary ranges $15,000 to $20,000 depending on experience with salary incentives for swimmer recruitment and retention. IWV trains in a 7 lane, 25-yard indoor pool at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. The club pays 100% of coach's travel costs, plus per diem. The Ridgefield Aquatic Club is recruiting a full-time head age group coach. The Ridgefield Aquatic Club (RAC) is a 150 member swim team that competes in the Connecticut Swimming LSC. The club operates as a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that is managed by a volunteer board of directors that works with the Head Coach on the business side, whereas the Head Coach/CEO is responsible for the day to day operations of the swim program. The Ridgefield Aquatic Club is traditionally one of the top teams at the Connecticut swimming championships.  Currently the team has zone qualifiers, Eastern Zone Sectional qualifiers, swimmers who have achieved NAG Top 10 times, and USA & NCSA Jr. National qualifiers.   The position will include responsibility for the entire 12 and under portion of the swimming team including a 30 member pre-team program.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for swimming and the ability to communicate well with swimmers, coaches, and parents.  They must possess the knowledge and ability to implement a skill and technique based swimming program.  The specific job duties will include: 1) Direct and supervise the competitive and non-competitive (Olympic Way) age group programs.    2)  Establish a seasonal training plan for the age group program and directly coach 2 practice groups per day.  3) Supervise the assistant age group coaches.  4) Serve as the lead coach in the absence of the Head Coach.  5)  Attend all scheduled practices and maintain regular office hours.  6)  Direct new swimmer recruitment.  7)  Responsible for web based communications (with assistance from team webmaster).  8)  In charge of meet entries for swimmers in the age group portion of the program.  9)  Establish a monthly report for the RAC B.O.D. meeting.  Previous coaching experience is required.  Coaches applying for this job must have achieved the ASCA Level 2 certification, but Level 3 or higher is preferred.  This position reports to the Ridgefield Aquatic Club Head Coach.    The successful candidate must have all current USA swimming certifications (Coaches Safety Training, CPR, First Aid, and have already passed the USA Swimming background check).  RAC is offering a competitive compensation package (base salary and bonuses) between $30-37,000 annually, paid vacations, and a health care stipend of approximately $2,000.

The University of North Dakota seeks applications for an intern coach for Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving.  This is an NCAA Division I program. This is a ten month part-time position starting in August. Assistant Swimming And Diving Coach

The University of North Dakota is seeking an assistant swimming and diving coach.  This is a full time benefited position.  DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:   Assist In all areas of coaching a men’s and women’s swimming and diving program, including but not limited to: on deck coaching at meets and practices; assist strength coach for weight training and dry land practices. Coordinate recruitment of student-athletes to Include: day to day correspondence, both e-mail and print mail; weekly telephone calls; coordinate official and unofficial visits; handle documentation of each prospective student-athlete in accordance with NCAA compliance; oversee study tables; foster alumni and community relations; assist with meet management. Teach two credits per academic year of Physical Education classes as assigned. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree; Previous coaching experience at collegiate level or USA Swimming level.  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Collegiate coaching experience; Collegiate recruiting experience.  COMPENSATION: $ 24,000.  UND determines employment eligibility through the E-Verify system.
